APS – FY14 Significant Changes to Staffing in Direct Instruction

I have been getting a lot of questions regarding the additional staffing and resources that are going into Direct Instruction in FY14. Per the Administration, many of the staffing changes from FY13 are related to reclassifying positions out of account 1200 Classroom Instruction and into more specific specialty areas. This was done to make it easier to track costs in the future.

Below is a Chart that shows the major changes in staffing from FY13 to FY14. While there clearly are reclassifications showing up in the  changes, there are an additional 206 positions – mainly teachers and para-professionals.

While the Chart raises many questions, the primary question I have is – In what Departments were the new 206 positions added (over and above any reclassifications)? As I find out, I will report back the answers from the Administration.
