APS – Update on the Budget Review

I have received a lot of information from APS regarding the Salaries budget development for FY14. It will take several days to analyze the information and to develop conclusion on the FY14 budget for this line item. As a aside, I want to thank the Finance staff for being so forthcoming with the information.

In addition, I am taking a look at the Project Thrive initiative that the Board approved in May. Project Thrive is an initiative that restructures and streamlines the entire Human Resources function in APS by transferring all HR activities currently being conducted by C&I and centralizing them in the HR Division. Based on the presentation to the Board on May 6th, at which time the Board approved the Project, the initiative is expected to result in a 6% savings in overall cost of HR activities. I am working through the analysis prepared by HR in an effort to substantiate the cost savings that are claimed in the proposal.

Also, I will be out of town for the next couple of days and will not have time to fully develop the assessments noted above until next week. As such, blogging will be light over the next couple of days.  Have a nice weekend!
