Board of Education candidate endorsements – winners and losers

Prior to the Board of Education election, I published a list of the endorsements made by various publications and interest groups (see here). Remember, these were not predictions, but endorsements of their favored candidates.

How did they do?

Creative Loafing led the pack with three outright winners and the potential for a winner in each of the four run-offs. The clear loser was the Atlanta Progressive News with six candidates losing outright. The maximum number of points is seven as endorsements for candidates running unopposed are not counted and a “hedged” endorsement that includes two candidates in the same race gets on only ½ a point per candidate.

Here is the scorecard:

  • Creative Loafing                                W-3, L-0.5 & TBD-3.5
  • Buckhead Coalition                            W-1, L-3    & TBD-3
  • BuckheadView                                   W-1, L-1.5 & TBD-1.5
  • Continue Atlanta’s Progress               W-1, L-1    & TBD-4    (Mayor Kasim Reed’s super PAC)
  • Atlanta Federation of Teachers          W-1, L-3    & TBD-4
  • Atlanta Progressive News                   W-0, L-6    & TBD-1
  • The Network for Public Education     W-0, L-2    & TBD-2    (NYC – led by Ravitch Ravitch)

One Response to Board of Education candidate endorsements – winners and losers

  1. If only we could accurately predict the stock market! We’d be gazillionaires. Thanks for being such a great hub of info during the campaign.
