A brief introduction to new principals at Brandon Elem, Carver School of Health, Carver School of Technology and Sutton Middle


On Monday, the Atlanta Public School administration released the names of ten new principals. The following is a brief introduction to four of the principals named. See the full list of the ten principals named here.

Brandon Elementary Principal Kara Stimpson

Ms. Stimpson has served as Assistant Principal at Sylvan Hills Elementary for the last two years and previously served on the APS Middle School Transformation District Team. In addition, she held various roles at the Atlanta Girls’ School and also served as a teacher for over six years in North Carolina.

She earned a Bachelor’s degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master’s degree at Kennesaw State University and an Ed.S. at Georgia State University.

 

 

 

Carver School of Health Sciences & Research Principal Marcus Jackson

Dr. Jackson currently serves as principal for the Kendrick Middle School in the Clayton County Public School system. Previously he also served as the Principal and Assistant Principal in two other Clayton County schools and has been with that system for over eight years. In addition, he has served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Clark Atlanta University School of Education.

From his LinkedIn page, he earned an Ed.D. from Nova Southeastern University, is an author and is the CEO of Jackson Education Consultants.

 

 

 

 

Sutton Middle School Principal Woodbridge (Buck) Greene, Jr.

Mr. Greene currently serves as a Gifted Support Teacher in APS and formerly served as Principal at Johns Creek High School in Fulton County Schools for six years. Additionally, he was the principal at Alpharetta High School for three years and principal of Sandy Springs Middle School for three years

While at Johns Creek, the school average SAT score increased from 1561 in 2010 to 1729 in 2012 – the second highest SAT average among all high schools in Fulton County school district for 2012-2013.

 

 

 

 

 

Carver School of Technology Principal Josie Johnson Love

Josie Johnson Love has served as Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction at Langston Hughes High School in Fairburn for the last three years. Previously she held positions as Assistant Principal at  Glynn Academy High School in Brunswick, GA and held other leadership positions in Douglas County High Schoo, Pebblebrook High School and schools in Daytona Beach, FL.
