A brief introduction to the new principals at Therrell HS, North Atlanta HS and Crim HS

On Monday, the Atlanta Public School administration released the names of ten new principals. The following is a brief introduction to three of the principals named. See the full list of the ten principals named here.

Therrell High Principal Shelly H. Powell

Ms. Powell has served as the interim principal at the Therrell School of Health Science and Research Served for the past two years. Prior to her current position, she served APS as a Model Teacher Leader in the Office of High Schools for 2 years and also taught in APS and Florida for a total of 7 years.

North Atlanta High Principal Curtis Douglass

Mr. Douglas, a graduate of Georgia State University, has served as the Assistant Principal at North Atlanta High School since 2012. Prior to NAHS, he served for over seven years as an Assistant Principal in the Gwinnett County Public Schools and also served as a teacher for six years in the Dekalb County School system.




Crim High Principal Tyree Simmons

Mr. Simmons was appointed as Assistant Principal at Crim Open Campus in July 2013.In prior positions, Simmons has served as Regional Administrator for Ombudsman Educational Services and as an Assistant Principal and as a school counselor in several other school districts. In addition, Mr Simmons served for eight years in the US Air Force as an Airlift Aircraft Maintenance Specialist.

He earned a B.S. and M.Ed. from South Carolina State University, a Ed.S. from Cambridge College and expects to earn an Ed.D. from Northcentral University in 2015.
